The year is 2020 and Seattle has quickly grown to become one of the vampiric society's finest cities.
The Camarilla rules the city with an iron fist, ensuring the survival of the Kindred, and with it, the
rule of the Masquerade: Their existence must remain a secret to humans, and the Prince of the City sits
at the top of the hierarchy, enforcing the laws of the undead.
The clans of the Camarilla fight for power: It's a game of chess and your next move might determine
the future of all. When push comes to shove, which side will you take - and as a character with the
potential to shift the game, what will your next move be?
SOME RULES ARE UNBREAKABLE
In the past few months, the rate of newly embraced vampires have skyrocketed - most of which has
not been sanctioned by Prince Algernon: The Camarilla have worked day and night trying to track
down the one's responsible, but where one lead ends, another begins. Unable to figure out the culprits
behind the mass-embrace, the Camarilla finds itself caught between trying to restore power and ensuring
that the laws of the Masquerade are not broken - again.
A Blood Hunt has been called, and the Scourge has been sent out - and so the Caitiff are being hunted
down: Nothing but Final Death awaits them.
It started with a fight. Some stupid message taken the wrong way and Aurora was in a huff and tossing clothes out of her closet searching for something to wear out. A simple baby pink t-shirt and baby blue capris seemed to fit the occasion, a light tan hoodie and red sneakers completed the ensemble. She let her brown hair fall in waves around her shoulders and picked up her camera. She wanted to do something instead of sitting at home and waiting for Ian. She took note of the weather, a nice overcast day, something that usually she would stay inside for, she loved the sun to death.
She had her eyes set on going to the park but there was just one stop for her to make, coffee. She always got so much grief for drinking caffeine, but this was a rare treat. She hopped happily to the counter and made her order of a peppermint mocha frappe. Something cold and minty and sweet, just her absolute favorite thing. She paid and set on her way, taking a picture of the coffee shop as she left. Today wasn't proving to be a bad day.
However she was in a mood and her muse struck her. She walked herself to one of the nearby parks, not bothering really to pay attention to what one, It was a pleasant day even with the overcast. She was walking aimlessly taking pictures of the scenery, she did have a class to use them for after all. There was a dog running through the trees, a bird perched on a branch beautifully, she was starting to feel a little bit better honestly. Even more so when she spotted someone.
They had a kind of look like she actually was interested in for a moment. She approached, a friendly grin spread on her pale face as she called out. "Excuse me! Pardon! I like your look, I'm a photography student.. would...you maybe mind if I got a picture or two?" She was hopeful and honestly, making an effort to maybe make a friend here finally?
The cute, innocent little woman was being stalked. Not by one, but by two different creatures.
The first was a kindred. He was tall and arguably handsome. He didn't belong to a clan, and certainly didn't believe in the masquerade. He was likely a mistake, blip on the radar that never should have been.
The second was Sergio. In truth, he was stalking the kindred, but since the kindred was after the photographer, Sergio was after her, too.
He didn't often hit the streets in an effort to protect humans. It usually just happened, typically because he was given a job by a kindred to take care of a breach. Today, however, was something different. A coincidence, you might call it. Sergio had been out on a delivery, and after wrapping up business his sense started to buzz. It was a familiar feeling, but definitely not in that part of town. So he'd followed.
A good thing, too, as this kindred was swiftly approaching a breaking point. Sergio could tell that he hadn't eaten in days. He didn't smell like blood. He didn't smell like anything.
The sweet young woman approached the kindred, who had stepped out of stalking mode and was engaging in approach mode. He probably would have exchanged a few pleasantries with her before attempting to snatch her and tug her into the nearby bushes. It was a very public place and they surely would have been seen.
Sergio was about to save her ass.
The hunter was behind Aurora Fox. He waved a hand at the kindred as she spoke to him, and shook his head. He then pulled back his jacket, revealing a gun holstered to his side. The kindred shot him a glare.
"I--no. Not today, miss. Sorry." He said, eyes on Sergio, and then promptly brushed past her.
"You can shoot me." Sergio offered, mouth twisting into a smirk that appreciated his pun, though his dark gaze tailed the kindred as he scurried away.
Aurora beamed with bright eyes as she was rejected flat out. A not so rare response but still, it was always enough to make her full her cheeks with air and give a small huff. She had no idea how narrowly she had come to death. At his pushing past her she couldnt help but pout, that was until she heard a voice, offering up themselves. She turned excitedly and pursed her lips sideways, she looked at the man with a quick glance over and then again, much slower. holy daddy factor Ok, this guy could work.
"Wellll You certainly have a different look... I think that may have been a small blessing." She gave a grin as she palmed the camera that hung around her neck she did a scan of the area and noticed a rather large cherry tree, the soft contrast of that mixed with the roughness of this guys look. Oh hell yeah that was gonna be a portfolio shot. She took another long sip of her drink as she pondered for a moment. "Well it's nice to meet you. I'm Aurora Fox. Now could you maybe stand by that lovely pink tree?" She asked with a soft inflation, a lot of people asking that may have came off as bossy or demanding, she spoke it like a child would ask santa for a gift.
She messed with a few of the buttons on the camera, looked up at the sky and then back to the tree, checking to make sure everything was in perfect alignment, she was of course going to have to do a few touch ups on the photo on her computer, but that was just the name of the game. "I really appreciate it, you posing for me that is. You kinda have a better look than that other guy."
Sergio could have shoved his foot down his throat. The woman was actually pleased by his offer. He thought surely his dark demeanor would turn her from him, but here she was, adjusting her camera and requesting that he move to perfect her pictures. Well, he'd brought this on himself, hadn't he?
"That other guy's chin looked like a butt." Sergio murmured the joke as he did what she asked, stepping towards the cherry tree. He looked the thing over before turning back towards her. "Just don't make this fruity, okay?" Another pun, this one less intentional. The last thing he needed was a picture of him looking dumb showing up in a magazine. Granted, she didn't look like a hotshot photographer, so maybe this would stay in a personal portfolio, rotting away.
He stood in front of the tree, but he was stiff. His hands were in his pockets and he didn't bother attempting to smile. He simply took to watching the girl, as one might observe a bird in its natural habitat.
Aurora watched him move to the tree doing more or less what she asked. She was of the mind to let people pose how they wanted to, she like to play with the lights and shadows in a picture to bring out the depth. At his comment though, she couldnt help but laugh, a light airy tone to it. "Ok you might have a point there..His entire face kinda looked like a butt though." Her nose crinkled a bit, her attempt at making fun of someone was as innocent as it comes. She raised the camera, moving herself a few times as she took a few different shots. "Oh don't worry..one of these is getting a pink wash with fruit stickers.. fruity as it'll come." She chuckled a tiny bit at her joke.
She took her shots and stood up straight, a grin on her face. "Thank you so much, I've kinda needed a few variations in peoples looks for some shoots.. I can totally do some edgy moody looking stuff with you.." Another broad grin on her face as she looked over the tree. "I didn't wanna get all bossy and ask for poses, I know that makes it weird." She happily chirped. The girl exuded a calm and cheerful vibe, like nothing would stop her from finding a good part of things. She was a little ray of light. If only she knew how close she had come to being dinner. She took a sip of her coffee and looked at the man. "So what brings you out here today?"
Sergio's brows bounced low in a flash of a frown when the girl mentioned edgy, moody stuff with him. He wasn't...nevermind. It was no use arguing art with someone who actually had a love for it. He liked to think of himself as serious and dangerous, but edgy? Moody? If he didn't know any better, he might have assumed she was describing a cow.
"Yeah, don't mention it." He dismissed her thanks, stepping away from the tree, since they seemed to be done with those shenanigans. He eyed her over, definitely noticing her chipper demeanor, but he found it a little more annoying than endearing. What did she have to be so happy about? The world was a pretty shitty place.
"You wouldn't believe me if I told you." He answered her with a very small smirk tugging at one side of his mouth. He thought about saying goodbye and leaving then, as his business with her was done, but then he had another thought.
